Charles Schwab Foundation has announced a new annual grant program aimed at promoting innovative solutions in financial education. The Schwab Moneywise Momentum Grants will provide up to $2 million this year to support nonprofit organizations developing practical and accessible financial literacy programs. The initiative focuses on helping individuals, especially young people, acquire relevant money skills needed to make informed financial decisions.

Supporting Nonprofits With New Approaches To Financial Education

The Schwab Moneywise Momentum Grants are designed to encourage creative and distinctive strategies that expand access to effective financial learning. Organizations interested in participating can submit a Letter of Interest through the online grant portal beginning in May. The program builds on the foundation’s long-standing commitment to financial literacy and its substantial annual investment in programs supporting youth development across the country.

Chris Wyse, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Charles Schwab and President of the Charles Schwab Foundation, highlighted the importance of ongoing financial education. He noted that while Financial Literacy Month draws attention to money skills, building long-term financial confidence requires continuous support. The grant program is intended to help nonprofits scale programs that equip people with the tools to strengthen their families and communities.

Expanding Access Through Employee Programs And Partnerships

In addition to grantmaking, the Charles Schwab Foundation has introduced the Dollars for Doers program to engage employees in financial literacy efforts. The program allows employees to earn $100 for each eligible volunteer project, up to $500 annually, which they can direct to nonprofit organizations of their choice. Supported by paid volunteer time and training resources, employees act as educators, mentors, and community leaders, helping bring financial education directly to local communities.

Schwab also collaborates with national organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America, DonorsChoose, Girl Scouts of the USA, Junior Achievement, National 4-H Council, and SIFMA Foundation. These partnerships aim to deliver practical financial education to millions of young people each year. Schwab works with other groups to strengthen teachers’ skills, helping educators feel confident in providing instruction on saving, budgeting, credit, and investing, a key focus area for the Charles Schwab Foundation.

To complement classroom and community programs, Schwab provides free resources for teens and adults of all ages through SchwabMoneywise.com. The platform offers articles, tools, and Money Talk, a biweekly column authored by Schwab Certified Financial Planners, focused on everyday financial decisions. These resources aim to make financial learning accessible and actionable for a wide audience.

Through these combined efforts, Schwab is supporting the development of practical money skills and financial confidence among young people and families. By funding innovative programs and engaging employees as educators, the foundation seeks to create stronger communities and promote lifelong financial well-being.
