He is now scheduled to get his Ph.D. credentials on June 15 following the successful defence of his dissertation last month.
“Very excited to share the news that I successfully defended my PhD research today!” the Sacramento native tweeted in May. “I am now Dr. Tanishq Mathew Abraham (at 19 years old)!!”

He previously earned his bachelor’s degree in science at the UC Davis College of Engineering when he was 14 years old.

The institution congratulated the young graduate and shared a photo of Abraham ringing the bell, a custom for UC Davis Ph.D. students. Abraham joined MENSA at the age of 4, a high-IQ organization whose members must score in the top 2% on a recognized intelligence test.
Abraham has now joined a distinguished group of the young individuals who have ever received a doctorate. The youngest-ever Ph.D. recipient, according to Guinness World Records, was a 13-year-old German boy named Karl Witte who earned his degree in 1814.
