Matco Tools Pledges $500,000 for Scholarships through 2028

The Lincoln Foundation for Education Inc. (LiFE) has received a generous donation from Matco Tools, a leading provider of tools and equipment for automotive, diesel, and collision repair industries. Matco Tools committed to donating $100,000 annually through 2028 to support students enrolled at Lincoln Technical Institute (LTI). The donation will fund scholarships and awards for both new and current LTI students, helping them pursue careers in critical transportation fields.

Sheri D. Leach, President of LiFE, expressed her gratitude for Matco Tools’ ongoing support. She highlighted the company’s long-term involvement in LTI’s programs, which have helped students develop in-demand skills for vital professions. Leach noted that this donation would give even more students the chance to excel in fields that are essential to the growth of the U.S. economy.

Expanding Opportunities for Students at Lincoln Technical Institute

LTI has been a leader in specialized technical training for over 75 years, offering programs in Automotive Service Technology, Diesel and Truck Service Technology, and Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology. Students at 12 campuses nationwide will be eligible to apply for the Matco Tools-funded scholarships and awards.

Laurie Reinbolt, Matco’s Vice President of Sales, emphasized the importance of investing in scholarships as a means to address the skills gap in the transportation industry. She highlighted Matco’s commitment to equipping future technicians with the education and tools needed for success. Reinbolt explained that by combining hands-on training with access to premium tools, students are being prepared to drive innovation and excellence in their fields.

Scholarship Allocation and Future Prospects

Of the annual $100,000 donation, $90,000 will be allocated for need-based scholarships, specifically for new students. The remaining $10,000 will be awarded to current students based on academic performance and success in skills-based competitions. These scholarships will help students overcome financial barriers to their education and career growth, further closing the gap in an industry that expects more than one million job openings by 2032.

Both LiFE ( Lincoln Foundation for Education Inc) and Matco Tools share a common goal of fostering skilled professionals who will contribute to the American workforce and the broader economy. With this collaboration, more students will have the opportunity to complete their training and enter professions that are essential to the country’s continued growth and success.
