Education Program Earns Global Recognition
The FSU Education Program, Florida State’s education and educational research program, achieved the university’s highest subject ranking, placing No. 25 worldwide. Among public universities in the United States, the program ranked second, while earning the top position among Florida institutions.
The annual rankings emphasize research-related factors, including publications, citations, and international collaboration. Universities are assessed based on their research influence and visibility within the global academic community.
University leaders said the ranking reflects the strength of faculty scholarship and research output.
“These rankings across crucial professions and disciplines reflect the quality of our faculty and the impact of their scholarship,” Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Jim Clark said.
Multiple Disciplines Reach Top 100
Florida State also earned top-100 global rankings in several other academic areas.
The university ranked No. 80 worldwide in psychiatry and psychology, No. 89 in social sciences and public health, and No. 92 in arts and humanities.
Clark said the results demonstrate the university’s broad academic strength beyond a single discipline.
“The recognition earned by our FSU Education Program, along with strong performances in psychology, the social sciences and the humanities, demonstrates the public value proposition of academic excellence across Florida State University,” Clark said.
The rankings highlight institutions with strong research records and international academic influence. Placement across multiple disciplines indicates continued competitiveness in several fields of study.
Research Growth Supports Rankings Success
University officials attributed the rankings in part to Florida State’s expanding research activity.
The university reported a record $488 million in research expenditures, representing a 50% increase since 2021. Florida State also surpassed $1.2 billion in research funding proposals during 2025.
The growth reflects ongoing investments in research programs, faculty recruitment, and scholarly initiatives. Increased research funding and output can contribute to stronger performance in global rankings, which place significant weight on research productivity and impact.
Florida State has continued to expand its profile as a research institution in recent years, with university leaders emphasizing the connection between research growth and academic recognition.
The latest rankings place the university among leading institutions worldwide in several disciplines while reinforcing its standing in education and educational research through the FSU Education Program.
